02 December 2011 - Quality labels for training fostering e-skills - a new study has been awarded to empirica by the European Commission. Empirica together with EXIN and an international group of renown experts in this field from all over Europe have started the QUALITY study issued by the European Commission to develop quality labels for industry-based training and certification which at the same time are compatible with the European Commission 2009 Recommendation on a European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Training and Education (EQAVET).

02 December 2011 - The European Commission is asking empirica to develop an e-skills Vision, Roadmap and Foresight Scenarios for the time until 2020. The Directorate General Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission has launched a contract with empirica supported by IDC Europe and INSEAD one of the world's leading and largest graduate business schools to provide sound, unbiased empirical evidence how the supply and demand for different types of ICT-related skills is evolving in Europe under different socio-economic scenarios. The work is addressed to the development of foresight scenarios and a forecasting of e-skills demand and supply until 2020 a vision report and the development of a policy roadmap for future action in this area.

05 October 2010 - empirica and the Work Research Centre, Dublin have been awarded and started the second phase of the Work+Care project for the EuroFound. The focus of this study for the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions covers the second phase of the EuroFound initiative on "company initiatives for workers with care responsibilities for disabled children or adults" and, describe and assess company case studies of good practice in the six Member States.

16 September 2010 - The results of the eHealth Strategies in European Countries project which empirica carried out for the European Commission, DG Information Society and Media with a large group of ENIR National Correspondents from more than 30 countries have been presented at a study validation workshop on 16th September 2010 in Brussels. The feedback from experts was highly positive and the Commission expressed its satisfaction with the results of the study.

15 September 2010 - The European Commission DG INFSO & Media has awared a contract on "eCareBench - Coping with an ageing population - Learning from good eHealth and telecare practices" to empirica. The 14 months study explores the European space in terms of the deployment of ICT-enabled care services, to learn from successful examples, and to adapt policies and incentive structures to counter the present situation where the use of telemedicine services is still limited and the market for devices remains highly fragmented, despite the potential benefits and the technical maturity of many applications.

30 July 2010 - International study on the the management of intellectual property in knowledge transfer activities started by empirica. Empirica has been commissioned by the European Commission DG Research to conduct a study to help set up a monitoring and reporting system and support the monitoring and reporting process to follow up and promote the implementation of the Commission's 2008 Recommendation on the management of intellectual property in knowledge transfer activities and Code of Practice for universities and other public research organisations.

03 June 2010 - empirica presented the results of the ICEAC study on "Analysis of the role of Creativity and Innovation in school curricula in the EU27" at an expert validation workshop on 1 – 2 June 2010 at IPTS, Sevilla. The experts from all over Europe showed high levels of appreciation of the results and recommended to use these as an important input to the overall analysis of this topic also considering further results from other studies which had also been presented (teacher survey, expert interviews, good practice cases).

31 March 2010 - empirica successfully completed a study for DG EAC on “CULTUREMAP - Study on the mapping and evaluating of existing platforms (websites) within the cultural sector aimed at stimulating debate and cross border exchange of matters concerning European culture".

03 January 2010 - empirica has been successful with a bid for an EU service contract by DG ENTR on the evaluation of the implementation of the “e-Skills for the 21st Century” Communication at national and European level which was carried with national correspondents from all EU27 member states.
